Shadow Boxing is an integral part of a boxers training. By using a mirror or shadow, a fighter can asses their form and work on endurance. It also allows the chance to mentally prepare by placing focus on an imaginary opponent. The opportunity exists to experiment with combining punches and footwork and to refine defensive reactions and counter attacks. Fast and light footwork, good technique, balance and flow are all combined to achieve a co-ordinated graceful like dance. It’s great to watch a skilled fighter like Sarah shadowbox and to see the way a series of seemingly effortless punches flow & merge to become a single set or “combo”. A good boxer will always make it look effortless. I think it has to do with how relaxed the fighter looks. The effortless energy seems to flow and manifest to become a confident strength.
